Staff Accountant – Tax

Summary of Responsibilities
The Tax Accountant position is an entry-level tax position that will assist in the day-to-day operations of the tax department, including compliance and financial reporting.
Duties of Position
• Preparation of U.S., state and local tax returns for a wide variety of taxpayers, including individuals, corporations, partnerships, fiduciary, tax-exempt entities, and retirement plans.
• Assist with tax research, planning and consulting projects.
• Respond to or assist with responding to various tax notices. Assist with audits of tax returns.
• Assist with the clean-up of client prepared accounting records; including adjusting entries, book to tax adjustments, and other supporting schedules.
• Communicate with supervisors and clients regarding the status of projects and additional information needs.
• Ongoing development of an understanding of the tax laws and an ability to apply such knowledge to client situations.
• Become oriented to firm policies and practices.
• Performs other related duties as may be assigned.

Required Experience
• Less than 3 years of professional experience
Educational Experience
• Bachelor’s in Accounting.
• Earned or in the process of earning 150 credit hours in order to sit for the CPA exam.
Required Licenses, Certificates of Knowledge
• CPA, must be a member in good standing with the State/American Institute of CPAs
• Planning to earn CPA
